Panasonic Avionics Corporation's New eX2 System To Be
Environmentally Friendly
April 22, 2005
Bothell, WA - In honor of Earth Day, Panasonic Avionics Corporation is proud to announce that its next generation IFE system, eX2, will be launched as an "environmentally conscious" product.  In response to the European Union (EU) restrictions on the sale of electronics containing specific hazardous substances, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and its subsidiaries have committed to adhering to the directive well before the July 2006 requirement.
The PMP is a self-contained entertainment device providing hours of movies, music, games and other entertainment.  The PMP provides a flexible, low-cost IFE solution and requires no installation downtime or certification costs.  "We are pleased to offer portable IFE as an extension to our already popular X-series product line," says Chris Lundquist, General Manager Product Planning.  "For certain markets and airlines, portable IFE is perfect.  And with our total solution approach, we believe airlines will be provided differentiation and revenue opportunities not previously offered in this market segment."

Although aerospace companies are exempt from the directive, Panasonic Avionics Corporation plans to adhere to the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) requirements by implementing compliant manufacturing processes and has already instructed its suppliers to supply compliant materials as of April 1, 2005.
