Panasonic's 'Live Text News' (LTN) service to feature world news from Agence France-Presse
September 21, 2005
Hamburg, Germany - Panasonic Avionics Corporation, the world's leading supplier of in-flight entertainment and communication systems, today announced that Agence France-Presse (AFP) news content is now available as an optional news source on its "Live Text News" service.

AFP offers real-time news stories from various news categories – including breaking news, sports, business, entertainment, technology and lifestyle, to name a few.  Airlines may choose content from the following eight languages:  English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese.  Integration with the LTN service will require the use of an airline's point-to-point Satellite Communications channel, whether flying the existing Live Text News application or Panasonic's new integrated Live Text News service which is being featured at this year's WAEA Expo here.'

"Having AFP news available on Panasonic's system will offer airline passengers a richer in-flight experience, allowing them to keep an eye on the world while traveling.  We are very excited to be working with Panasonic Avionics Corporation on this innovative product," said Gilles Tarot, Sales and Marketing Director for AFP North America.

Tina Ghataore, Panasonic's Head of Strategic Software Applications, said, "Providing airlines and their passengers with a breadth of software applications and content services remains a major focus at the company. This extracts the maximum value from our IFE systems for the airlines and keeps airline passengers informed, entertained and connected as they fly.  The integration of AFP into our Live Text News product allows our airline customers to configure and choose among a suite of global and regionalized content from a world-renowned news source."
