FE system offers cutting-edge entertainment and connectivity options
Seattle (24 September 2002) - Matsushita Avionics Systems Corporation (MAS) has been selected by Iberia Airlines to provide its System 3000 In-Flight Entertainment system for the airline’s new A340-600 aircraft.
Iberia signed a deal with Airbus in June of this year to add to its fleet three A340-600, the largest version of the A340.The new aircraft will join Iberia’s A340-300 fleet in June 2003, and will be used on the Spanish airline’s key long-haul routes from Madrid to Mexico City and from Madrid to Buenos Aires. Passengers onboard will be able to enjoy inflight entertainment presented on System 3000, the most advanced IFE system in the air today.
System 3000, MAS’ flagship IFE system, gives passengers a nearly limitless selection of entertainment options, including hundreds of movie titles, up to 1000 hours of music entertainment, multiplayer computer games, in-flight information and much more. Digital AVOD (Audio/Video on Demand) gives passengers the ability to start, stop, pause and resume their entertainment whenever they wish, just as they might do with their own home entertainment system.
System 3000 is also able to host several exciting features and options, including Inflight Communicator, MAS` SMS (short message service) solution; iXplor™, the company’s innovative new interactive tracking application; Nintendo( Gateway Game Boy( games; live text news; and Intranet and Internet connectivity including cached web pages and limited live Internet access.
In addition to its proven connectivity options, System 3000 also provides an easy upgrade path for passenger laptop connectivity utilizing Ethernet. The upgrade path - System 3000i (the "i" is for Internet) - offers broadband provisioning so that airlines can offer their passengers broadband connectivity.Iberia Airlines is scheduled to take delivery of their new A340-600s, equipped with System 3000, in the summer of 2003. |
