New single-aisle in-flight entertainment system to be installed on A320s, B737NGs
Seattle (25 September 2002) - Matsushita Avionics Systems Corporation (MAS), provider of In-Flight Entertainment systems for International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) has been selected to provide its new eFXTM IFE system for installation on Life’s future Airbus single aisle (A320 family) aircraft and Boeing 737NG aircraft.
eFX is an all-digital, Ethernet-based in-flight entertainment system that has been specifically designed to meet the entertainment and communication needs of passengers on single aisle aircraft. eFX offers features found in today’s wide-body systems: broadcast audio and video, AVOD (Audio/Video On Demand), gate information, iXplor flight information, integrated pre-recorded announcements and boarding music.
Using an Ethernet LAN communications network, eFX offers not only the very best in entertainment, but also provides airlines with the flexibility to accommodate today’s connectivity solutions while being ready to step up to tomorrow’s broadband air-to-ground networks.
According to Alan Pellegrini, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations for MAS, "We are excited about eFX. It presents a truly cost-effective solution for the single-aisle market. It allows airlines to remove existing audio and video players, pre-recorded announcement machines and moving map devices. Component consolidation means an airline saves weight, reduces complexity, reduces up-front costs, reduces power consumption and lowers its maintenance burden. eFX is a flexible IFE solution for what has generally been an underserved market. We’re delighted that ILFC has selected eFX for their single-aisle fleet."
ILFC is the largest lessor of new aircraft in the world, and has the largest number of new aircraft on order from Airbus and Boeing. |
